A keyboard in VR makes VR life easier

Sometimes simple ideas are the best. The developer of the application Punchkeyboard a well-functioning keyboard was missing in VR.

Some VR applications require input from a keyboard. However, as you have VR glasses on and not everyone necessarily has a blind command of the ten-finger system, this can be a difficult endeavour under certain circumstances. So why not simply bring the keyboard into VR?

So that you can type quickly in VR, the developer has given some thought to the arrangement of the keyboards. Of course, typing works via the controllers. The letters must be slightly offset vertically so that the letters do not overlap. From Daydream Labs there is already a keyboard system, but it doesn't run as smoothly.

In addition, this software has an implementation that automatically fills in words, suggests words, completes them and makes correction suggestions. Of course, the prototype only works in English.

The whole thing is available as Open Source to tinker with. Soon you probably won't need a real keyboard anymore if you want to write something in VR.
