The Swedish technology company and game developer Quixel will soon release its debut title. It is the promising space-survival VR game "Homebound". The new VR experience will be available for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift from 16 February 2017. Download be ready. In "Homebound" you take on the role of a courageous astronaut who is confronted with a series of catastrophic events in the loneliness of space. When disaster strikes and the spaceship goes out of control and hurtles towards Earth, there is only one mission left: you have to get to safety as quickly as possible.
"Homebound enables a unique space experience with immersive VR graphics unlike anything seen before. After spending the better part of a decade creating graphics technologies for film and game studios around the world, Quixel is now looking to push the boundaries of what has been possible in VR until now," at least that's the promise from the makers. The trailer shows that this could certainly succeed.
The graphics of "Homebound" were inspired by real environments. According to the developers, this is especially true for the spaceship, which is located on the SpaceX Dragon module and the International Space Station ISS oriented. It adds: "This offers players a unique opportunity to experience NASA and SpaceX spacecraft up close and personal in a way that was previously only available to astronauts."
