Virtual reality as an artistic medium for the 21st century
"The unframed world" is the first comprehensive presentation of artistic explorations of the virtual reality medium at HeK (House of Electronic Arts Basel). The international group exhibition presents works that link the virtual environment with the real exhibition space.
In virtual reality, the viewer transcends the limited space of the screen. Instead of looking through a window, they leave their real surroundings and become part of that other world.
The exhibition is the first comprehensive presentation of artistic explorations of virtual reality at the HeK. It presents various artistic applications of the medium, which has had an impact on many areas of life since the market launch of more mass-produced technologies at the beginning of 2016 and will change them significantly in the coming years and decades.
