After years of development, the Virtuix Omni has finally been delivered. Unfortunately, it was also announced that this cool VR accessory will never be available in Europe. Actually, it's even worse, because the Virtuix Omni will not be available anywhere outside of America. This is a huge disappointment for many VR fans. After all, the Kickstarter product It got off to a furious start in 2013 and quickly raised over 1.1 million dollars. This naturally included many VR fans from various countries outside America. For them, a dream has now come true. The reasons given are the costs, logistics and lack of support infrastructure. At 105 kilograms, a height of 123 cm and a depth of 110 cm, the end product is not exactly very manageable. Transport within America already costs 200$! Transport to Europe would simply not be technically feasible. It is also logistically impossible. The backers will now be refunded the purchase price plus 3 per cent interest per year. But that is little consolation for the backers.
But what exactly is a Virtua Omni? The Virtuix Omni is a type of treadmill that allows movement in all directions. The player is also attached to an elasticated ring. This allows them to crouch or jump and perform the same action in the game. In combination with VR goggles, the player really gets the feeling of moving freely in the middle of the game.
One specimen has found its way to Europe after all. You can try it out in the Virtuis VR arcade in Nuremberg.
