On the evening of the fourth of October, Google presented its latest hardware products. In addition to Google Home and the Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, the VR headset "View" was also presented, which will be available in November. There was already a lot to learn about "View" in advance. In addition to the unusual fabric-look design, the headset also has a price tag of the equivalent of 69 euros, making it cheaper than the competition.

View" is designed for Daydream, a mobile VR platform as an extension for Android. The look has a cosy, different feel, with comfort and accessibility being two of the most important points for the developers. Those who are primarily looking for technical novelties and innovation are less likely to be served. The focus is clearly on making virtual reality appealing to everyone. The price of 79 US dollars, or 69 euros, fits the picture. However, as with the competitor Samsung Gear VR, the mobile phone serves as the screen. Unlike the Google Cardboard, however, this only works with smartphones that are Daydream-capable. A mobile phone with the corresponding feature automatically switches to the correct mode as soon as it is inserted into a Daydream headset and also works wirelessly. A small remote control is used as a controller, whose movements are transmitted to the device. There is even a little space for this in the glasses so that everything stays compact. The headset comes in three colours: a wine red, a plain grey or white.

Daydream View currently only works with the new smartphones from Google. However, those who find the Pixel and Pixel XL too expensive will have to wait for cheaper adaptations. Smartphones and the VR glasses are manufactured by HTC, but the Daydream concept is also being made available to other companies, so you can be surprised what will follow. HTC is also planning to offer selected VR titles in its own store.
