CoNeT carries a wide range of simulation platforms for training in the field of firefighting and fire protection. For us, the virtual reality (VR) simulators for respiratory protection and fire extinguishers are particularly exciting.
It all started in 2017 with an old public service bus that was converted into a firefighting simulator. Fridli Jacober built a vehicle in which
fire chiefs can practise their decisions in case of an emergency. The target group is militia fire brigades that would otherwise not be able to afford the expensive programme.
In addition to the bus, CoNet also offers virtual reality (VR) simulators for respiratory protection and fire extinguishers, with which members of the fire brigade (AdF) and first responders can train.
Breathing protection simulator
A real jet pipe is even used in the breathing apparatus simulator. The trainees feel the heat of the fire and the recoil of the jet pipe with the AS-MobilVR Trainer. Depending on the extinguishing tactics and the amount of water, the fire reacts until it goes out. The motorised hose rewind system also helps make everything feel very real. The hose winding and restraint system allows forceful advancement and force feedback when using the jet pipe. (recoil and tractive force up to 30kg). To prevent the AdF from getting too cold, there is also a heated waistcoat that is worn under the personal fire protection clothing. The heated waistcoat gives the feeling of being near a fire. Depending on the location to the fire, different sections are heated and can simulate up to 80° for a short time. Instead of a breathing apparatus, the AdF wear a computer and mask. The AS unit contains accordingly instead of air, the VR computer, sensors and the power supply for the waistcoat and the PC.
The respiratory protection simulator with virtual reality goggles convinces with several advantages:
With this equipment and the virtual simulation of a real fire, training is completely risk-free for the firefighters. In addition, fire scenarios can be reproduced several times to increase the learning effect. Furthermore, it is an environmentally friendly option, as nothing has to be burnt in real life.
Fire extinguisher simulator
The fire extinguisher MobilVR also simulates fire events safely, cost-effectively and visualises the use of fire extinguishers realistically.
This allows first responders to be trained efficiently and realistically. With visual and acoustic training elements
various fire extinguisher operations are simulated and fear of contact is reduced. With Fire Extinguisher Mobile VR, organisations meet the legal requirements for fire safety training of occupational health and safety personnel or employees and better train first responders in the handling and use of fire extinguishers.
