Switzerland's largest VR play area with full-body VR has recently opened in Dierikon. Virtual Area attracts visitors with a self-produced title.
A new VR hall has opened its doors in Dierikon in the canton of Lucerne. Visitors fight their way through the in-house game there for 30 minutes with full-body equipment. "It's pure adrenaline!" says Christian Bernd, owner of the Virtual Area. And he continues: "Reality and fiction merge completely. The feedback so far has been very positive. "After three years of development, we finally see that the effort is paying off.
Christian Bernd (33) studied industrial engineering and is managing director of EVOTEC Solutions AG. With his company he also develops VR applications in other areas. For example, simulations for educational purposes or visualisations for architects.
At 21×14 metres, the Virtual Area in Dierikon offers the largest game area per game in Switzerland. "With us, you can experience a virtual world on 300 square metres, move freely and have a completely new gaming experience," he promises. However, there is only one game to choose from so far. But more are planned: "We are already working on a puzzle adventure game, which you can imagine as a big escape room with many levels." He expects the second game to be released next year.
The issue of motion sickness is also settled: "We have already asked several dozen participants about motion sickness and haven't had a case yet," says Bernd. "Even those who already had severe discomfort with other VR systems." Epileptics, however, should refrain from the experience. Nor should one dive into the virtual gaming world under the influence of alcohol, Bernd advises. Otherwise, however, the experience is absolutely safe.
The Game - The Outbreak
"It's a classic zombie shooter that really takes off," says Berndt. "Even though it's a zombie shooter, we focused on action rather than horror." The game will appeal to anyone looking for an action-packed adventure with team play.
