The page UploadVR has learnt some technical information about the upcoming next-gen VR headset PlayStation VR 2 from its sources, although this has not been confirmed by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
The resolution of PlayStation VR 2 is said to be 4000×2080 pixels (2000×2040 per eye), which is slightly less than the resolution market leader HP Reverb G2 and a little more than the successful Oculus Quest 2.
There is also talk of eye tracking via foveated rendering and an adjustment wheel for the lens distance. According to the website, the VR headset will also have a vibration motor, which should enable developers to realise direct haptic feedback.
PlayStation VR 2 will also have inside-out tracking, which means that no external camera is required to capture the movement of the new controllers. The connection to the PlayStation 5 is made via a USB-C cable. It is not yet known when exactly PSVR2 will be released.
