From Mosul to Palmyra: VR exhibition on destroyed monuments

The VR exhibition "From Mosul to Palmyra - A Virtual Journey through the World Heritage Site", which was created in collaboration with Ubisoft, is taking place at the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn until 3 November 2019.

Thanks to the environment created by Ubisoft and VR headsets, visitors can discover six long-destroyed or inaccessible monuments from the Arab world. "Mosul, Aleppo, Palmyra, Leptis Magna - these cities are symbols of the legendary world cultural heritage of past civilisations, but also of the destruction of their monuments through fanaticism and wars. With the help of state-of-the-art virtual reconstructions, the exhibition brings these legendary and now destroyed sites back to life," says the description of the exhibition. Federal Art Gallery.

"The presentation impressively illustrates that the cultural heritage in the Middle East and North Africa was fundamentally multicultural and multi-religious and was at the centre of a closely networked exchange between three continents," it continues.  Here and a trailer provides corresponding impressions of the VR exhibition.
