Minecraft AR in progress

Microsoft and Mohjang are clearly working on a new "Minecraft" spin-off based on Augmented reality is set. From Redmond now comes a first teaser for this project, which is to be unveiled soon.

So Microsoft has shown a first teaser video for "Minecraft AR", which provides short impressions. The new project is reminiscent of titles such as "Pokémon Go" and "Harry Potter: Wizards Unite". It will be interesting to see whether "Minecraft AR" (the real name is not known) will adopt many features of the original, or whether it is a spin-off that follows a completely different game principle.

As the video notes, there will be a Minecraft AR unveiling on 17 May 2019. That's when we'll likely learn more about the endeavour. According to industry insider Brad Sams, the game is codenamed "Genoa".
