A new virtual reality simulator allows you to simulate driving a car while drunk.
In the virtual reality driving simulator of the "Am Steuer Nie" prevention centre, such a nightmare scenario can be experienced first-hand. Managing Director Chantal Bourloud wants to sensitise new drivers in particular to the dangers of drinking and driving: "With the simulator, we show people what it means to be unfit at the wheel. You experience a drunk or tired drive in a playful way." Many people underestimate the residual alcohol in their blood after a party.
The simulator is unique in Europe. VR goggles give you the feeling of being in the middle of road traffic. The steering wheel, accelerator and brake pedals make the journey even more realistic. With visibility restrictions and unforeseeable obstacles, the reaction time in a drunken state is calculated. Fatigue at the wheel can also be visualised for five seconds using a black screen. Bourloud says: "If you drive too long with it, you may well feel drunk afterwards."

The whole thing can rented become. According to Am Steuer nie, virtual reality driving simulators are very well suited to sensitising a critical audience and are door openers for direct discussions at trade fairs, safety days or company events.
If you would like to see how a test drive is carried out, you can find it on 20 minutes or also on the Daily Gazette online.
