Is the Xbox VR headset coming?

Microsoft has no VR headset in the pipeline to give Sony a run for its money with PlayStation VR, according to previous statements. It was always said that the Xbox One X would be perfectly capable of realising virtual worlds. But perhaps something was in development after all.

The page CNET claims to have learnt from sources familiar with the matter that a VR headset for the Xbox One was in development. However, the project has been postponed or put on hold until better technology is available, according to the report, which has not been officially commented on. Microsoft has reportedly been looking for partners to produce games for an Xbox VR headset in recent years.

According to CNET's sources, the screen quality of the device was quite good, but not good enough to compete with Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. Microsoft is therefore waiting until wireless technology for VR headsets becomes cheaper and more practical. What's more, the studios may not have had too much interest in developing Xbox VR games because the Xbox One is well behind the PlayStation 4 in terms of sales figures.
