The games publisher Bethesda has already ported some of its well-known brands to VR systems. Just think of "Skyrim VR", "Doom VFR" and "Fallout 4 VR", which are all fully-fledged games and not short VR experiences.
The latter apparently ensures that these games sell quite well. Bethesda's Pete Hines said in the Interview: "Skyrim shot to the top on PSVR and stayed there. When we released Fallout 4 VR on Steam, it also shot to the top and stayed there. When we released Skyrim VR on PC, it was the same. Doom VFR did very well. When it comes to any install base, more sales are always better, but yes, they did well." However, he did not give specific sales figures.
The success is attributed to the quality of the games and Bethesda is correspondingly satisfied: "Doom VFR, Fallout 4 VR, we're just very happy with the sales and the reception. We will continue to look at VR, as we do on all platforms. It's about what fits well with this platform, what we have and how it can work." It is therefore not surprising that at E3 2018 with "Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot" another VR shooter was announced.
