The start-up Ikonospace from Amsterdam is working on a software of the same name with which artists can create their own museums or galleries in virtual reality. These can be equipped with all kinds of works.
With "Ikonospace", not only can paintings be hung, one can also place 3D objects. Furthermore, the various works of art can be provided with additional information, while even audio tours, videos and various interactions are possible.
"Ikonospace" is used on the PC and Mac. The output can also be done on the computer and tablets, but virtual reality is the actual goals. The finished VR rooms will be compatible with Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
"Ikonospace" is primarily intended for artists who are at the beginning of their creative career and have not yet found a proper gallery for their works. For this reason, an associated e-commerce platform is also planned, through which art can be sold. The beta version of "Ikonospace" is scheduled for release within the next two months. The final release will be in summer 2018.
