Sony Interactive Entertainment has filed two very interesting patents that suggest that at least one new PlayStation Move controller for PlayStation VR is in the pipeline.
The first patent makes it clear that the new controller for PlayStation VR could have an analogue stick (see image), which would make it much easier to control. The buttons are also arranged much better. Many users already want an analogue stick anyway.
A second patent, which was filed in 2017, mentions the detection of individual fingers, similar to Valve's Knuckles controller. In this context, reference is even made to cameras that are attached directly to the VR headset in order to capture the controllers more precisely.
It is important to remember that patents do not necessarily have to lead to a final product that is actually released. Nevertheless, it has to be said that the PlayStation Move controllers are ripe for an overhaul. And an analogue stick doesn't sound unrealistic at all.
