This month, Ubisoft unveiled a virtual reality experience designed specifically for Renault's autonomous vehicle. This experience is part of the so-called "Symbioz" project.
Ubisoft, which is known for games such as "Assassin's Creed" and "Watch Dogs", showcased the VR experience on a stretch of motorway north of Paris, where Renault presented the concept vehicle "Symbioz" tested under real conditions. According to the official information, the car is the first fully electric prototype that is always connected to the internet. It was designed from the ground up to be autonomous.
The manufacturer comments: "The vehicle provides a first insight into the technologies that could be found in Renault production in the near future. To accompany these open road tests, we developed Ubisoft a virtual reality experience that offers the driver an escape from everyday life and an opportunity to relax when the vehicle is in autonomous mode, thus illustrating the idea of mind-off."
The driver is immersed in an immersive universe that changes from a realistic representation of the immediate surroundings to a futuristic and surreal landscape. The whole system has a direct connection to the vehicle and analyses navigation data such as speed changes, lane changes and surrounding vehicles in real time. This should make every journey unique.
