PlayStation VR was launched almost exactly one year ago. The VR headset has been quite successful and, according to Sony Interactive Entertainment, has sold more than one million units.
More than 100 gaming experiences have already been released for PlayStation VR, and according to Shawn Layden, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment America, that was only the BeginningAs Chairman of PlayStation Worldwide Studios, I can assure you that the best and brightest are extremely excited about this powerful new medium. The biggest game developers and innovative independent studios have contributed to a rapidly growing catalogue of games for PSVR that rivals the range that the PS4 was able to boast on its one-year anniversary."
"We are convinced that virtual reality is the next step in the evolutionary history of video games," it continues. Shawn Layden also mentions that more than 60 new PSVR games will be released in late 2017 and early 2018. "The future is promising," he concludes. In Japan, by the way, a improved version of PlayStation VR has been released. However, it is unknown if and when it will be released in Europe.
