In 2015, the well-known Swiss children's story Schellen-Ursli was successfully filmed and one year later, the Schellen-Ursli House opened in Europa-Park's Swiss themed area. Since the beginning of the Halloween season on 23 September 2017, visitors to Germany's largest theme park can experience the adventure of Schellen-Ursli with virtual reality glasses on the roller coaster "Alpenexpress Coastiality".
Already during the filming of the movie Schellen-Ursli produced in 2015 - which, by the way, I warmly recommend to everyone - the producers Ditti Bürgin-Brook and Peter Reichenbach exchanged ideas with Michael Mack, Managing Partner Europa-Park, about a possible cooperation and integration in the popular theme park. The Schellen-Ursli theme convinced Michael Mack: "With this partnership, we are not only strengthening the connection to our Swiss guests, but also authentically enhancing the Swiss themed area with the Schellen-Ursli House."
The Schellen-Ursli House
The groundbreaking ceremony for the "Chasa da Uorsin" (Schellen-Ursli House) at the entrance to the "Swiss Bobsleigh Run" in the Swiss themed area took place at the beginning of February 2016. The opening followed on 11 May 2016. In the authentically recreated Engadine house from the children's book and cinema film, visitors gain insights into the homely world of Schellen-Ursli.
Schellen-Ursli becomes a virtual experience
From 23 September 2017, Schellen-Ursli will be on the roller coaster "Alpenexpress Coastiality" at Europa-Park can be experienced in a special way. Visitors can experience Schellen-Ursli's adventure in the Engadine mountains with virtual reality glasses. While digital experiences take place before their eyes, the passengers feel the wind and the movements of the real roller coaster ride. The voices in the short film are spoken by the children from the Schellen-Ursli cinema film.
The Coastiality experience has been developed by MackMedia and the Engadin Scuol holiday region is involved as the main sponsor. "We are delighted that the story of "Schellen-Ursli" can be experienced virtually and that visitors can discover the Engadine in this way," says Martina Stadler, CEO of Tourismus Engadin Scuol Samnaun Val Müstair AG. "We are sure that this will inspire visitors to spend their holidays in Schellen-Ursli's homeland". Film producer Ditti Bürgin-Brook is ecstatic: "Another highlight around the story of Schellen-Ursli has been created and will delight the guests of Europa-Park". Michael Mack, Managing Partner Europa-Park: "MackMedia produces and distributes content for Coastialty experiences worldwide. We are very pleased that after the Schellen- Ursli Haus, a thematically fitting Coastiality ride has now been created from the children's story and we are excited to see how our visitors will like it. Our themes are always chosen to be as authentic as possible and it's great that the story of Schellen-Ursli has found a way into the digital world at the most popular theme park in Switzerland".
