At the Tokyo Game Show 2017, Konami announced the 4K/VR remaster "Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner - Mars", which will be released for PC and PlayStation 4 in spring 2018. PlayStation VR will be supported.
"Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner - Mars" is a extended version of "Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner" from 2002, although an HD remaster for the PlayStation 3 followed in 2012, on which the latest remaster is based. The title offers native 4K resolution and the experience has been adapted for VR. "Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner - Mars" is playable this week at TGS 2017 and a first trailer provides impressions.
Konami writes about the story of the action game: "The title is set in the year 2174, where the despotic BAHRAM military organisation uses its new Orbital Frame mech-robot technology to complete the oppression of Mars and Earth. The player takes control of the Jehuty Orbital Frame - the most powerful machine of its kind - and becomes the last hope of the long-suffering planet. Using the Jehuty's powerful technology, players will engage in battle and penetrate deep into the heart of BAHRAM."
