Solar eclipse live in VR

On 21 August 2017, for the first time in 38 years, the USA will hold a total solar eclipse will take place. CNN will show the event live in VR or in a 360-degree live stream. Only a partial solar eclipse will be visible in north-west Europe, which will not reach Switzerland.

The total solar eclipse will be visible for the longest time in the city of Columbia in the state of South Carolina (2:30 minutes). CNN will broadcast the impressive event from seven locations with 360-degree cameras in 4K resolution. The necessary quality should be guaranteed, as it is reported that a 360-degree camera will be used that has been specially optimised for the solar eclipse. Even close-ups of the sun are possible.

The livestream will start on 21 August 2017 at 7 pm our time. The spectacle will be broadcast via the CNN page or on Facebook can watch. The whole thing will be moderated by a group of experts and astronaut Mark Kelly. Anyone with a Samsung Gear VR can follow the live stream via the "Samsung VR" app. Oculus Rift users can use the manufacturer's own video app.
