Oculus has announced that it has teamed up with French director Alejandre Aja to produce a horror series for virtual reality. Filming for "Campfire Creepers" is already underway. Alejandre Aja is known for films such as the remake of "The Hills Have Eyes", "Mirrors" with Kiefer Sutherland, "Piranha 3D" and "Horns". So he has plenty of experience with the genre.
The 360-degree horror series "Campfire Creepers" takes a group of visitors to the tranquil Camp Coyote in the US state of Texas. You can experience their scary stories up close around the campfire. As the story goes, the deepest childhood fears are brought out while being frightened in a whole new way. The unique possibilities of the new medium are certainly to be utilised.
"Campfire Creepers" is produced by the Californian studio Future Lighthouse which specialises in VR films/narratives. "Campfire Creepers" is also inspired by the TV series "Tales from the Crypt" and "Creepshow". Robert Englundthe actor who plays Freddy Krueger, even makes a guest appearance. The first episodes will be released in the Oculus Store to coincide with Halloween.
