Space Junkies: VR arcade shooter with jetpack action

Ubisoft announced at the E3 2017 in Los Angeles "Space Junkies". This is an arcade shooter with jetpack action that is being developed exclusively for virtual reality. According to Ubisoft, the game offers intuitive and fast-paced multiplayer fun in three-dimensional orbital arenas. It will also support full VR body controls, which should immerse players in intense and weightless combat. "Space Junkies" will be released in spring 2018 for Oculus Rift with Touch and HTC Vive.

"Space Junkies" is being developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and the makers are promising 1-vs-1 and 2-vs-2 battles in the "Dirty Bowl". This is a collection of space arenas that react dynamically to players' actions, allowing them to move and attack in any direction. The game also includes an arsenal of fancy weapons that can be used to vary attacks to effectively take out enemies. "Space Junkies" uses a proprietary virtual reality engine called "Brigitte". The technology was designed to evolve and adapt to the new demands of creating VR worlds.

"Space Junkies is aimed at VR gamers looking for something new and crazy and will stimulate their fighting spirit," said Adrian Lacey, Producer at Ubisoft Montpellier. "We're creating a competitive, adrenaline-fuelled multiplayer shooter that's out of this world, allowing players the freedom to take full advantage of advances in player-machine interfaces as only Virtual Reality can."
