Payday 2 gets free VR mode

The Starbreeze Studios and Overkill Software have announced that the shooter "Payday 2", which was launched in 2013, will be expanded with a fancy VR mode. HTC Vive will be supported. Although the developers have not yet announced a release date, a suitable beta test is due to take place this year. All PC players who own the regular version of the title will receive "Payday 2 VR" free of charge.

The project does not involve the development of a special VR experience that may only last a few minutes, as is the case with "Star Wars Battlefront", for example, as Starbreeze Studios and Overkill Software are realising the entire game for virtual reality. This means that you can transfer your existing game progress to the VR version. VR fans and gamers can also play together with the normal version (cross-play). It is unclear whether Oculus Rift or even PlayStation VR will be supported at some point. A first trailer for "Payday 2 VR" can already be viewed.
