Experience Augmented Reality at Zurich Main Station

Next Monday, 30 January, until Wednesday, 1 February, you may come across a zombie, an elephant or a cute cartoon character at Zurich main station. You will not only be able to see the TV characters as usual, but also to experience them up close, according to the UPC.

Visitors can prove themselves in a The Walking Dead-style zombie apocalypse or get up close and personal with the elephants from Nat Geo Wild from 6am to 10pm. Those who prefer a more leisurely experience can join the friendly Cartoon Network characters. The whole thing takes place upstairs in the big hall.

This is made possible by augmented reality (AR) or the so-called "magic mirror", which allows the real world to merge with the virtual one. Together with other companies such as MicrosoftHertz or Paco Rabanne, UPC offers, in addition to the  Virtual ride on the chair in their pop-up store in Europa Allee another opportunity to experience the new technology. We can only hope that this application is a little more convincing than the jerky simulator and that no passers-by - especially children - are frightened.

In the rather exaggerated video you get a first impression of how the whole thing works:
