With PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and co. VR headsets are already available on the market, but there is still plenty of room for improvement. It is therefore natural to ask when the manufacturers will release new versions of their VR hardware. Alvin Wang Graylin, the President of HTC Vive in China, assumes that the product cycles of VR headsets will lie somewhere between smartphones and games consoles. He suggests a period of around 1-3 years to give a rough figure.
"I can imagine that VR headsets are somewhere in between, probably closer to smartphones than to consoles," says Alvin Wang Graylin about the product cycles of VR headsets. And actually, the man should know. Between the cycles, however, new accessories will further improve the virtual reality experience, it is said. So far, no successors to PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift or HTC Vive have been announced, even though there have been repeated rumours and minor hints.
