Viveport is HTC's global app store, for which an innovation was announced at CES 2017 in Las Vegas. In spring 2017, an app subscriber service for Virtual reality content will be introduced. According to those responsible, the new service is designed to help customers navigate the ever-growing market of VR apps. It is also intended to open up a new channel for VR developers to monetise their content more easily.
Thousands of apps are already available worldwide for HTC Vive available. Viveport's subscription service is designed to help people navigate this growing market and discover new apps. For a "low" monthly fee, you get access to a constantly growing collection of content. A subscription price or details of the content have not yet been disclosed. VR developers also have the option of either integrating their products into the subscription service or continuing to distribute their apps as their own titles.
We are happy to inform VR fans that the same ways in which they find and consume music, films, TV and games via subscription services are now also available for virtual reality content. For developers, this is another way to reach new users. We want to open up as many ways as possible for them to present and market their content.
