Long-term prisoners are prepared for life in freedom with VR

There are people who go to prison for a very long time and then have to be prepared somehow for life in freedom. Because in a few decades, the world can change drastically in many areas.

Virtual reality is supposed to help. Vincent Rodriguez was sentenced to life imprisonment for premeditated murder in 1991 and was 16 years old at the time. Eric Davis has been in prison since 1986. Now the men are being given the chance of a life in freedom and are part of a new rehabilitation programme in the USA. This should help to reduce the high recidivism rate.

During the three-year programme, the inmates not only learn how to handle money, computers and other modern things, VR is also used to show them what the world looks like now. This prepares them for situations that they are not familiar with from prison. In the documentary by "Vice News" (see video) you can see how the men react to virtual reality. And they agree: the world has changed completely.
