Beta programme for Oculus Rift announced

The launch of the Oculus Touch controllers was accompanied by some exciting games, but the Tracking with more than two cameras caused problems for some users. An update was released in January 2017, but this apparently did little to remedy the situation. Some customers even complained about even more problems. Currently the Update 1.12 which is due to be released this month and is actually almost ready. Due to extended QA tests, however, no exact release date can be given yet.

In order to optimise the release of future updates and avoid errors, a so-called "Early Preview Program" has also been announced, as many other manufacturers already have. Voluntary users can test updates as a beta in order to discover bugs or other difficulties and provide feedback. Only then will the updates be made available to the general public. According to Oculus, the "Early Preview Programme" had been under discussion for some time, but it was not a high priority. This has obviously changed now.
