VR app from Telekom brings friends together virtually

Deutsche Telekom is further expanding its product portfolio in the area of virtual reality products with a new free VR platform. "Magenta Virtual Reality" is the new driving force and offers users exclusive VR content from 360-degree videos to VR experiences - all centrally on one platform.

With two freshly launched new features, Deutsche Telekom is taking another step towards the future and social VR: VR Lounge and VR Cinema. Sports, music and entertainment: the best VR content is presented in the Magenta VR media library and provide the best entertainment.

VR Lounge: Experience adventures with friends or simply chill out

A brand new feature is the VR Lounge, which takes you into new social environments. First, you create your own avatar, which you can easily customise with gender, eye, hair and skin colour.

The user then finds himself on a virtual sun terrace, where you can invite up to three of your friends. Also logged in as avatars, you can talk to each other live via the voice function, watch 360-degree videos from the media library and clips on YouTube together or simply surf the web.

VR Cinema: cinema, music and television - and much more besides

A second new virtual space within the app brings cinema and television into a three-dimensional world: Magenta VR Cinema.

On the one hand, videos from different thematic channels are available on demand. Users can choose from Telekom's own offering. There, for example, 360-degree sports videos and various concerts from Magenta Musik 360 are available. In addition, one will find regularly changing content from partners such as Red Bull, National Geographic and Twentieth Century Fox.

In the coming months, classic films and even live TV will also be available. And the content is not just reserved for customers: The Magenta VR app and all videos can be used free of charge by both Telekom customers and customers of other providers.

Use the Magenta VR App

Sounds good? How can you enjoy the beautiful new worlds? To use the Magenta VR app, all you need is a smartphone (iOS or Android). You can download Magenta VR from the respective app store. And off you go. For a more intensive VR experience, however, you should put on Google Cardboard or professional VR glasses.
