A world premiere as a guest at Digitaltag Schweiz

HEGIAS a start-up based in Zurich with a development team in Lugano, demonstrated at its two locations on Digitaltag Switzerland has launched the world's first browser-based content management system for virtual reality with the HTC Vive, which is also multi-user capable. We wanted to know from Patrik Marty, a member of the founding team, what he experienced at Digital and what their plans are for the future.

What did you show visitors on Digital Day?

A world premiere: This is a preliminary version based on a specific customer project of the world's first browser-based, automated content management system for virtual reality.

What was your aim in taking part in the Digital Day?

As a young start-up, we would currently like to promote awareness of HEGIAS as a company, brand and product among the general public locally and in the media with appropriate reporting.

Was your participation successful?

Yes, as usual we had very good feedback from the visitors and also very good press clippings (SRF 1 live programme, Swiss Digital Day live stream with an appearance on the big stage, interviews with the teams from Credit Suisse and XING, etc.).

There were all kinds of celebrities at the Digital Day. Were you able to welcome any special visitors to your stand?

We were very honoured by the visit from Tobias Müller - presenter of "Einstein" - to our stand during the SRF 1 live broadcast, as well as the visit from Digital Frank (Credit Suisse). The visit from around 20 members of the Swiss Circle was also exciting. These are potential customers and investors of HEGIAS.

What would you wish for another time?

The visit of the Federal President to our stand and, of course, that we can then show the finished product "HEGIAS 1.0".

Were you able to get a taste of other stands and what did you experience there?

As our stand was always very busy, our team could hardly look around. I briefly visited CSS to try out the Magic Leap. However, this was a sobering experience due to the rather small viewing area of the latest AR headset.

What significance do you think VR has when you look at the whole digital day?

VR is omnipresent, but more as hardware and less with really good content that would be relevant for the respective companies. For example, SRF Meteo showed simple planking on the "roof" of their TV studio or ABB showed a Formula E race with the Oculus. This has nothing to do with their core business and could be designed much better.

Where will VR prevail?

In all industries and in all areas of life. In a first step, everywhere where something is planned and developed for the future and thus corresponding previews can be generated. Finally, especially where penetration with the end consumer is not relevant.

Where can you experience HEGIAS next?

Next week on 8 and 9 November at the BIM Congress in Basel.
