Satirical PSVR Puzzle Game Salary Man Escape

Sony Interactive Entertainment and Red Accent Studios have released the satirical VR puzzle game "Salary Man Escape" for PlayStation VR. In the game, you help the "Salary Man" to escape the pressure of his job.

In order for the protagonist to leave the office, the player must remove various obstacles from his path, which naturally becomes increasingly difficult as the game progresses. "Through clever interaction and manipulation of blocks and platforms, players must reorganise a structure of blocks to create an escape route for the office worker." it says. The trailer provides some good gameplay impressions.

"As players reach the middle levels, they will face increasingly complex versions of the same mechanics, as well as mixed levels with earlier mechanics. These provide a satisfying challenge, but should be solvable for all," said Michael Ren, Senior Producer at Red Accent Studios. "In the final levels of each chapter, the difficulty increases dramatically, allowing you to really utilise your creativity. Players will be confronted with seemingly impossible puzzles that will challenge even the greatest puzzle players."

Features of Salary Man Escape

  • Unique VR perspective: With the free movement in VR, players get a perfect 360-degree view of the puzzle, which enables a special 3D puzzle experience.
  • Physics-dependent puzzles: Solving the puzzles of Salary Man Escape is always about utilising physical realities such as weight, balance and strength. Each individual playthrough will never be exactly the same, so players will need to stretch their creative energies to find the best solution to a problem.
  • Interesting art style, 80s Japanese soundtrack: The game features a minimalist, monochromatic visual style that contrasts with the classical and cheerful Japanese music of the 80s. This is intended to portray the gloomy yet often humorous existence of the office worker.
  • Six chapters, 78 levels: The game offers hours of gameplay, with six chapters, 60 normal levels and 18 PS4-exclusive hidden levels. Each chapter introduces a brand new puzzle mechanic, making the puzzles more complex and difficult as the game progresses.
  • Unlock hidden levels and achievements: Unlock hidden levels (which offer a special mechanic) by collecting coins from older levels. These can often be found far from the actual path. Play through all levels for special achievements and bragging rights.
