Déraciné: New VR adventure by Hidetaka Miyazaki

The Sony Japan Studio and From Software announced "Déraciné" for PlayStation VR at E3 2018 in Los Angeles. From Software is known for well-known games such as "Dark Souls" or "Bloodborne", but now it is going in a completely different direction.

Director Hidetaka Miyazaki is also on board. Masaaki Yamagiwa from Sony Japan Studio explains the plot of "Déraciné": "The story takes place in a remote boarding school where six children spend their days quietly. In this environment, you appear as an invisible fairy who exists in a world of suspended time. As the story progresses, time shifts around you and sometimes even throws you into the past."

From Software's aim is to utilise the latest VR technology to create a traditional adventure game and also a visual novel in which you can immerse yourself in a silent world full of secrets. Unfortunately, there is no date yet for "Déraciné", but the trailer already provides some initial impressions.

Masaaki Yamagiwa goes into more detail about the gameplay: "Déraciné's most important element is the connection between the player, an invisible fairy, and the children of the boarding school. You experience it through fragmented storytelling, where you as the player piece together events from scattered story elements and frozen time. All of this comes together to create an engaging, emotional narrative."
