The studio Start VR arbeitet derzeit an der VR-Serie „Awake“, welche auf die moderne 3D-Aufnahmetechnik von Microsofts Mixed Reality setzt. „Awake“ soll noch im zweiten Quartal 2018 auf HTC Vive, HTC Vive Pro und Windows Mixed Reality losgehen.
In „Awake“ is about the life of Harry Whitbread, who is confined to a wheelchair. The series mixes past, present and future. This also applies to dreams and reality. The man reflects on his existence and the decisions that have led him to this point, while memories of his long-dead wife torment him.
Harry ist allerdings besessen davon, die Wahrheit hinter seinen Visionen und Träumen zu ergründen sowie die Geheimnisse zu lüften. Die neueste holografische 3D-Aufnahmetechnik von Microsoft sorgt dafür, dass echte Schauspieler in die virtuelle Realität übertragen werden. Für das Projekt konnten unter anderem Jake McDorman („Stirb Langsam 4.0“, „American Sniper“) und Analeigh Tipton („Warm Bodies“, „Two Night Stand“) verpflichtet werden. Wie „Awake“ aussieht, darf im neuen Trailer betrachtet werden.
