With the goals that the trade fair team of the Basler Insurances innovative presentation and to attract people to the stand with a strong eye-catcher, the responsible persons have Agency Responsive AG for a virtual reality (VR) concept. From various creative ideas, they decided on a really fiery one; because one of the most frequent and devastating accidents are fires. The fact that seemingly harmless candles are among the most dangerous arsonists is to be experienced by the visitors in a playful way.

Firefighting in the virtual toy world

In the high-end VR application, after a brief registration via an iPad, the player first finds himself in a typical children's room. There is a candle on a bedside table and a cat right next to it. After the player has looked around in the virtual 360-degree world, everything happens at once: the cat knocks over the candle and the cardboard doll's house next to it catches fire. The player sees and hears toy fire engines roaring towards him and shrinks to a miniature figure himself. The player's task is to extinguish as many sources of fire as possible while riding on a hoist and, for bonus points, to water a few flowers on the side. For this purpose, visitors to the fair are equipped with a fire brigade jet pipe - also in the real world - so that they also have the haptic feeling that they are on duty.

Simple operation for young and old

With this innovative VR application, trade fair visitors will experience many exciting, novel effects such as immersion in a fantasy world, the sensation of shrinking or riding up on a platform.

Surprisingly, the control of the game remains completely intuitive. Patrik Marty, Managing Partner of Responsive AG, says: "Everyone, young and old, has an idea of how to use a fire hose. The ease of use was important to us, because at the regional trade fairs our client wants to reach families in particular."

Emotional involvement and genuine learning

With the VR competition, the users are emotionally picked up by all the familiar elements that remind them of childhood as well as the funny animations and are involved with the interactive game. They also learn in a playful way how quickly a fire can occur and what the consequences would be. The trade fair staff thus have the ideal starting point for a subsequent conversation.
