View: An article with AR elements every day

Since Sunday, the Blick Group has published at least one article with AR elements every day as part of the digital strategy launched at the beginning of the year.

With augmented reality (AR), images become videos, texts become multimedia articles and infographics appear in 3D format. "The technology, which is still hardly used in the media sector, holds completely new possibilities for us. With AR, we can project a second level onto the world - a great field of experimentation for a media company," Peter Wälty, Managing Director Digital of the Blick Group, is quoted as saying in the press release.

No app necessary any more

The times when an additional app was needed for AR elements are over. In the current version of the Blick News & Sport app, the AR function is located directly in the navigation bar, it continues. "This makes it easier for our readers to access our interactive elements," says Christian Dorer, editor-in-chief of the Blick Group.

Ringier is one of the pioneers when it comes to the new media AR and 360° productions. Blick.ch was one of the first media houses to integrate 360° recordings and new media formats into its reporting as early as 2010, as can be seen on the agency's website. Concept360 can read. Many projects have not yet been taken up by the masses because they were simply ahead of the times; but now the way seems to be slowly being paved.

It's that simple

Readers tap on the AR symbol in the navigation bar, use it to access their mobile phone camera and hold it on the marked content of the article. The software analyses the page and loads the interactive elements directly on the display. The mobile phone can be turned in different directions and the displayed 3D element can be viewed from different angles and distances.

In addition to AR elements in the editorial section of the current "SonntagsBlick", there is also an AR supplement for the Ford brand. The Ringier Brand Studio has specially designed and created a supplement full of interactive experiences for the company. "With this new form of advertising, we offer companies attractive opportunities to tell their message with AR elements beyond the classic advertisement," Fabian Zürcher, head of the Ringier Brand Studio, is quoted as saying.
