VR shoes funded via Kickstarter

Cybershoes, a start-up from Vienna, has successfully launched the VR running shoes of the same name via Kickstarter funded. Shortly after the start of the crowdfunding campaign, the minimum goal of 30,000 euros was reached. With 29 days left, the total currently stands at over 86,000 euros.

The cybershoes are strapped under the regular shoes and represent a kind of sensor board. The aim is to replace expensive and much too large walking machines. A roller is embedded in the soles of the cybershoes, which simulates and records walking movements. The battery is supposed to last about 8-10 hours, which should easily be enough for a session.

By the way, you don't roll through the room with it. You sit on any swivel chair and imitate the walking movement. The direction of movement is determined by the rotation of the stool/chair. The videos show quite well how this works. At least you can't run into walls while diving into virtual reality. By the way, the walking direction and the movements of the upper body are recorded independently of each other.

The Cybershoes are said to be compatible with all PC VR platforms, with shipping set to begin in January 2019. 150 euros will have to be spent at least on a pair of VR shoes. If 300,000 euros are raised via Kickstarter, which is not unlikely, the inventors would like to implement jumps and give us the ability to pick up virtual objects from the ground.
