RosieReality convinces investors

RosieReality has developed a virtual robot for iPhones. It enables children to experience virtual reality. The Zurich-based start-up has now raised 700,000 dollars from investors.

With his virtual robot Rosie RosieReality make virtual reality accessible to children too. Rosie, the curious robot, comes from a distant part of our galaxy. She has crashed on our planet. Now it is the children's mission to explain life on Earth to Rosie. The children can programme Rosie using magical 3D formats, for example.

Children benefit from the new learning environment

The company sees virtual reality as a new learning environment overall. The multidimensional learning atmosphere provides an insight into the learning methods of the future. The team is convinced that this is one of the most important use cases for AR. Children would benefit from a new learning environment that is natural, contextual, engaging and entertaining for their behaviour. Rosie is suitable for children aged 8+.

The pre-seed round was attended by Article from startupticker.ch, well-known venture capital firms are involved. Among them is the Japanese Akatsuki Entertainment Fund, a fund of the largest Japanese game developer Akatsukiand General Catalyst and Anorak Ventures from the USA. RosieReality intends to use the fresh capital to further develop its product. The company is already looking for new employees to help develop the start-up into a globally active Zurich-based company. RosieReality is currently based at Wyss Centre at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH). The company also plans to expand to San Francisco in the near future.

The first beta version of Rosie has already been tested by 1000 children. The next version of Rosie is now to be developed and made available in Switzerland at the end of the month. Rosie will be made available globally in the course of 2018.
