PSVR shooter Farpoint in the story trailer

"Farpoint" makes a pretty good impression. The game could even be the best shooter for PlayStation VR to date. This is also shown in the new story trailer, which is particularly impressive with its stylish visuals. In this context, Sony Interactive Entertainment and the developers at Impulse Gear have confirmed that "Farpoint" has reached gold status. This means that the title has been finalised. "Farpoint" will be released for PlayStation VR on 16 May 2017. You will be able to play "Farpoint" like a normal first-person shooter with the DualShock 4 controller, but alternatively you can use the "PlayStation VR Aim Controller" which is designed like a rifle. "Farpoint" will be available for purchase as an optional package with the "PlayStation VR Aim Controller". The controller will later also be compatible with other PSVR games.

Randy Nolta, the art director of "Farpoint" and co-founder of Impulse Gear, has hinted that it could be worth playing with the "PlayStation VR Aim Controller": "Interaction with the PS VR aim controller was really important to us. We've included a fun gesture-based movement that allows you to switch weapons by reaching behind your back. We wanted the gameplay to feel like you're in a paintball match or a similar game where you're reacting to your environment, taking cover from enemies, looking around corners, just like in real life. You get sucked into the game and experience an even more exciting and immersive gaming experience."
