With Mission: ISS to the International Space Station

With "Mission: ISS", a free software for Oculus Rift has now been released in which you can international space station in detail in VR. "Mission: ISS" was developed in collaboration with NASA, ESA and the CSA (Canadian Space Agency). In order to recreate the ISS as accurately as possible, not only were models of the space station used, the developers also spoke to a number of astronauts.

The VR experience requires Oculus Touch. The motion controllers are used to dock onto space capsules, for example. You can also go on space walks and fulfil simple missions. This is designed to familiarise users with the tasks and functions of the ISS. You can also learn a lot about the history and development of the international space station. Among other things, videos are available in which the astronauts talk about their experiences in space.

The from Magnopus developed "Mission: ISS" will also be offered as a learning experience at selected schools in the USA. Oculus has teamed up with the French space agency CNES to send the VR headset to the ISS. Oculus Rift will be used there for research purposes. The aim is to find out, for example, what effects weightlessness has on spatial perception. "Mission: ISS" is available in Oculus Store available.
