Cerevo introduces haptic VR boots

The Japanese company Cerevo presented haptic VR shoes at CES 2017 in Las Vegas. The package also offers two motion controllers for the hands.  "Taclim", as the product is called, consists of a total of eight vibration motors. Three motors are installed in each of the boots. The two controllers get by with one motor each. The technology is intended to give the impression that one encounters resistance when moving objects in the virtual reality touches. For example, if you give the enemy a roundhouse kick in a match, it should be felt on the foot.

In addition, one is supposed to feel different surfaces such as sand, snow, wood and grass while walking. "Taclim" is being developed in cooperation with Nidec Seimitsu Corporation, which specialises in vibration motors. "Engadget" was already able to try out "Taclim". As the product is in a prototype stage, the ergonomics are not yet optimal. In addition, only half of the steps were detected correctly. The haptic feedback when walking, on the other hand, is described as successful. "Taclim" is to be released in autumn 2017 for 1,000 to 1,500 US dollars. It is intended for arcade operators and other companies because of the high price.
