Ricercatori tedeschi creano avatar 3D altamente dettagliati con uno smartphone di fascia media, in soli 20 minuti. Utilizzando solo due registrazioni video, l'applicazione dovrebbe consentire anche le animazioni.<\/h3>\n

Un team di ricercatori dell'Universit\u00e0 di Bielefeld, di W\u00fcrzburg e dell'Universit\u00e0 TU di Dortmund presenta un metodo con cui \u00e8 possibile creare avatar 3D utilizzando una sola fotocamera dello smartphone. Due registrazioni video costituiscono la base per l'immagine virtuale di un essere umano. L'intero processo di ricostruzione virtuale di un essere umano dovrebbe richiedere circa venti minuti. Per catturare il modello, sono necessarie due normali registrazioni video: una per il corpo, l'altra per la testa. Non \u00e8 necessario uno scanner 3D, \u00e8 sufficiente la fotocamera di un normale smartphone.<\/p>\n

Nelle ricostruzioni monoculari convenzionali, di solito viene eseguita solo una scansione dell'intero corpo. Tuttavia, secondo i ricercatori, una registrazione separata della testa dovrebbe garantire una qualit\u00e0 di dettaglio significativamente superiore in quest'area.<\/p>\n

Per la scansione della testa, lo smartphone viene mosso in cerchio intorno alla testa una volta sola. Per la scansione del corpo, si tratta di due rotazioni consecutive senza soluzione di continuit\u00e0. Il primo passaggio registra la testa, il busto e le braccia, il secondo riguarda i fianchi, le gambe e i piedi.<\/p>\n

Fotocamera costosa contro smartphone: quasi nessuna differenza<\/h3>\n

A titolo di confronto, il team ha creato degli avatar con un sistema professionale a pi\u00f9 telecamere. Come mostra l'immagine sottostante, le scansioni dello smartphone sono di livello simile a quelle del sistema professionale. Dopotutto, questo sistema comprende 48 telecamere.<\/p>\n

Il team afferma che i suoi avatar possono essere utilizzati anche in applicazioni XR. Sono compatibili con tutti i motori standard e si dice che siano possibili anche animazioni scheletriche e facciali. I movimenti vanno da quelli degli occhi e dei sorrisi a complessi passi di danza con braccia e gambe animate. Questi vengono creati utilizzando Faceware Studio e il plugin Unitiy Live. Speriamo che con l'animazione gli avatar sembrino un po' meno spaventosi che nelle immagini \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

Questa applicazione pu\u00f2 essere combinata molto bene con tutti i tipi di eventi e fiere, in cui si desidera vedere la propria controparte quasi come se fosse reale.<\/p>\n
