A new augmented reality game is set to compete with Pok\u00e9mon Go in the near future, capitalising on the popularity of dinosaurs instead of Pok\u00e9mon. The basic concept is very similar. In particular, the map that players use to orientate themselves in the world and find new creatures looks very similar to that of Pok\u00e9mon Go. As in the original game, specific types of creatures are assigned to certain areas: If you are looking for dinosaurs that live near bodies of water, you have to visit real rivers or lakes.<\/p>\n
Those who don't want to leave their own four walls can hire a drone to search the neighbourhood. \"The game is all about exploration, but we wanted to make the experience a little more flexible and give players something they can do from home,\" says Chris Heatherly, head of Universal's games division.<\/p>\n
The drone collects the dinosaurs' DNA and brings it back to the laboratory. This unlocks them for personal use. There will be more than a hundred species to discover at the launch of the game, but new ones will be added over time, including those from the latest film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which will be released in German cinemas on 7 June 2018.<\/p>\n
The dinosaurs can also be hybridised, resulting in completely new species. The number of \"hybrid\" and \"super-hybrid\" dinosaurs that can be bred is said to be almost unlimited. Players can then compete against each other with their own dinosaur troop. Team battles are also planned. In this respect, Jurassic World Alive clearly differs from Pok\u00e9mon Go, which does not yet offer battles between players, at least in the current version, even though Niantic has already mentioned this option.<\/p>\n
If you want, you can take a photo with the creatures and take dinosaur selfies. However, this might be difficult because the dinosaurs are shown in their original size and are sometimes as big as a house.<\/p>\n
