If you grew up in the 90s, you could hardly avoid the Tamagotchi trend. The idea of raising a digital pet has now been revitalised for virtual reality.\u00a0You can play over 50 mini-games with the virtual cat called Konroad.<\/span> Konrad, the VR kitten, can even be stroked - thanks to clever controller integration.<\/h3>\n

Konrad the Kitten is about a small virtual cat that players have to look after for a few minutes every day. The game looks like an homage to the little toys called Tamagotchis from the 90s that demanded daily attention. However, Konrad the Kitten goes two steps further: as it is a virtual reality app, players can actually see the cat and play with it. So far, so banal. But the real highlight is that you can touch, feel and cuddle the virtual cat.<\/p>\n

Plush animal mode with cord effect<\/h3>\n

How does that work? The game has a so-called stuffed animal mode that can be activated. To do this, the VR controller (Vive controller, Oculus Touch or PlayStation Move) must be attached to the back of a real, random cuddly toy. This now appears in the virtual world as a little kitten called Konrad. What may sound a little bizarre works surprisingly well: the player gets the feeling of holding a fluffy animal when they pick up the virtual cat. The controllers are set to vibrate to match the cat's purring, which further increases the immersion.<\/p>\n

In the game, players have to take care of the little cat's needs. For example, it wants to eat, clean itself or play. By fulfilling her wishes and maintaining a healthy balance, Konrad slowly levels up and various regions, objects and mini-games are gradually unlocked to help the cat develop further. In addition, you can accessorise the kitten in the changing room until it meets your requirements.<\/p>\n

Konrad the Kitten is being developed by indie developer FusionPlay. The game is currently in the final days of the Early Access phase on Steam. A version for PlayStation VR will be released on 23 February 2018.<\/p>\n
