The Catharic Escape is a first-person puzzle game for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, but can also be played on a normal PC.<!--more--><\/h3>\n<p>After being trapped by a mad psychologist in his facility, you try to escape from there. The game is controlled by body movements. With the joysticks, the player can pick up tools and smash boxes with them. The concept sounds like a classic Escape Room. The Game <a href=\"http:\/\/patriktoth.ch\/projects\/the-cathartic-escape\/\">The Cathartic Escape<\/a> however, has a few completely new special features.<\/p>\n<p>Video games are usually designed either for on-screen play or for virtual reality. The aim of this project by the two Master's students <a href=\"http:\/\/master.design.diplome.zhdk.ch\/2017\/toth-patrik\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Patrik Toth<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/master.design.diplome.zhdk.ch\/2017\/gon%C3%A7alves-daniel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Daniel Gon\u00e7alves<\/a> is to develop a hybrid game concept that works both on screen and with virtual reality systems while conveying the same game mechanics. To investigate the concept, a physical puzzle game was developed that takes up the catharsis thesis. This made it possible to show parallels and problems in the implementation of the respective system in a hybrid game.<\/p>\n<p>A damage system was also designed and developed for the game. This simulates the material properties of objects and their behaviour during destruction, such as breaking and deformation, unified for screen and virtual reality systems.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"beurteilung-von-testern\">Assessment of testers<\/h3>\n<div class=\"fusion-row\">\n<section id=\"content\">\n<article id=\"post-15375\" class=\"post post-15375 type-post status-publish format-standard has-post-thumbnail hentry category-abenteuer category-htc-vive category-news category-oculus-rift category-psvr\">\n<div class=\"post-content\">\n<div class=\"fusion-fullwidth fullwidth-box nonhundred-percent-fullwidth non-hundred-percent-height-scrolling\">\n<div class=\"fusion-builder-row fusion-row\">\n<div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion_builder_column_1_1 fusion-one-full fusion-column-first fusion-column-last 1_1\">\n<div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"fusion-text\">\n<p>VRjunkie meint zum Game: &#8222;Die gesehenen Puzzle bzw. Geschicklichkeits Einlagen machten bisher einen sehr guten Eindruck , auch wenn es oft nicht ganz klar war welchen Weg wir als n\u00e4chstes gehen sollen. Oft hilft auch nur rohe Gewalt. Die tolle Physikberechnung macht Lust auf mehr und l\u00e4dt zum ausprobieren und experimentieren ein. It is an exhibition by the Fotomuseum Winterthur that shows absurd and normal hobbies. Developer Patrik Toth is convinced: \"VR games are already a hobby for many people today\".
