In addition to mobile games, niche sectors such as VR and AR are also expected to grow strongly by 2021 - as are e-sports.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The global gaming market is expected to generate more than 150 billion US dollars for the first time in 2017 shows the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.digi-capital.com\/reports\/#global-games-investment-review\">Q3 2017 Games Report from Digi-Capital<\/a>. And the trend for the coming years is rising. The report summarises the gaming market as a whole from hardware and software. This means that sales of game consoles, PC hardware and VR headsets are also included.<\/p>\n<p>At the moment, the focus is on the still booming mobile games sector. But VR and AR are catching up.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-6286\" src=\"http:\/\/vr-room.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/digi-capital-games-revenue-2017-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"516\" height=\"387\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vr-room.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/digi-capital-games-revenue-2017-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/vr-room.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/digi-capital-games-revenue-2017-539x404.jpg 539w, https:\/\/vr-room.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/digi-capital-games-revenue-2017-350x263.jpg 350w, https:\/\/vr-room.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/digi-capital-games-revenue-2017-254x191.jpg 254w, https:\/\/vr-room.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/digi-capital-games-revenue-2017-125x94.jpg 125w, https:\/\/vr-room.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/digi-capital-games-revenue-2017.jpg 620w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 516px) 100vw, 516px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"vr-und-ar-sollen-stark-wachsen\">VR and AR to grow strongly<\/h3>\n<p>Virtual reality and augmented reality are two industries that currently generate less than 20 billion in combined sales. By 2021, however, they are expected to grow by 30 percent (VR hardware) to 75 percent (VR games). AR games are still significant in 2017, mainly due to the fading Pok\u00e9mon Go boom. Products like Microsoft's Hololens could bring this segment forward.<\/p>\n<p>VR, on the other hand, currently faces an uncertain future. Products like Oculus Rift or Samsung Gear VR dominate the VR market. The high hardware requirements of VR make widespread use difficult. In addition, many VR games are still very limited at the moment, as the characters are mostly stationary and cannot move.
