The worst-case scenario cannot be practised enough. That's why the web and advertising agency interpoint<\/a> for the asteam ag<\/a> programmed a training simulator for the fire brigade's respiratory protection team.<\/h3>\n


\nasteam ag has been on the market since 1992 and is the specialist partner for all aspects of respiratory protection. They offer courses for fire brigade respiratory protection personnel to ensure accident safety during operations. Through close collaboration with the customer, the web and advertising agency from Suhr interpunkt came up with the idea of using the latest technologies to utilise the \"courses\" division more effectively and develop a virtual respiratory protection simulator.<\/p>\n

Practice makes perfect<\/h3>\n

The emergency can now be practised with the training simulator. In the VR application, the trainee finds themselves in three different rooms that are heavily filled with smoke. They have to recognise a wide variety of objects in a given period of time. A good sense of orientation and quick comprehension are important for this.
\nAt the Suisse Public in Berne,\u00a0<\/a> the largest and only Swiss trade fair in the field of public procurement, <\/span>the simulator had its premiere with a large audience. It attracted and inspired visitors by the dozen. The situation in the application is simulated very realistically and is aurally enhanced by the sound of breathing through the protective mask.<\/p>\n

As a giveaway, asteam ag presented trade fair visitors with VR glasses branded with asteam. This makes it possible to practise from home, as the first part of the simulator is available as an app in the Google Playstore<\/a>. The simulator is to become an asteam product. Further levels are to be created on an ongoing basis, which can also be used for respiratory protection training for the Vive. Enquiries from the fire brigade<\/h3>\n

At the trade fair, asteam ag has already received initial enquiries from fire services who want to integrate the respiratory protection simulator into their training programmes. The big advantage of the VR app is that you don't actually have to go into the crisis situation and expose yourself to the harmful substances.
