Who hasn't wanted to be a real rock star? Standing at the top of the stage with an enthusiastic crowd screaming below you, hands on your instrument, ready to unleash the full power of the music? Games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band have already given us the chance to become masters of plastic instruments from the comfort of our living rooms, and to catch a glimpse of a musician's world. Now Rock Band VR<\/a> takes the whole experience one step further, bringing it into virtual reality and sending us straight onto the stage, guitar in hand. Just don't get stage fright now...<\/p>\n[\/g1_lead]\n

But don't worry. Unlike its predecessors, the gameplay focuses less on complicated guitar riffs for hardcore players and more on the whole package. The relatively free gameplay, which consists of strumming chords to the beat of the music, allows the player to break away from predetermined patterns often enough and really start jamming. In addition, experienced rockers have the opportunity to earn a few challenges through their performance, so there's something for everyone. Unfortunately, singers, drummers and bassists are left out - Rock Band VR only supports the guitar. This is due to the challenges that the team had to overcome when realising the hit game in VR. They wanted to concentrate on one instrument and offer an experience suitable for the VR medium that you can really immerse yourself in.<\/p>\n

The familiar guitar controller from Rock Band 4 is fitted with an Oculus Touch controller on the guitar head and the movements are transferred to the virtual instrument. The song can be started with a nod towards the drummer and the strings are struck in the usual manner. To deliver a show like a true professional and rock out together with your band mates, you can create a lively gaming experience with the help of teleportation on stage, headbanging and watching your band and fans.<\/p>\n

Rock Band VR from Harmonix<\/a> will be released at the beginning of this year and is only available on Oculus Rift. The game includes the classic game mode and a campaign mode, and around 50 songs are playable.<\/p>\n
