Switzerland's first VR centre officially opened in Zurich on 1 November. Of course, we couldn't miss out on the opportunity and plunged into the adventure together with our colleague Roger from Games.ch.<\/p>\n[\/g1_lead]\n
Unlike conventional VR experiences with PlayStation VR, HTC or Oculus, not only the head and the controller are tracked here. No, the whole body is captured here. The movements are captured in real time by 24 cameras. The VR Centre team works with the latest motion capture technology. Similar projects such as \"The Void\" in America work with the same means. The player is equipped with gloves, ankle bands, VR glasses and a computer rucksack. Small reflective balls are attached everywhere to help recognise them.<\/p>\n
After a short introduction, we are led into the arena. Guided by the staff, we carefully but confidently plod our way to our starting point. And off we go. I see the VR world in a spaceship somewhere in the infinite vastness of the universe. I look at myself and am amazed when I see my hands and legs dressed in a spacesuit and can move them just like in reality. I look over and see Roger. He is also wearing the same smart spacesuit. Naturally, I go up to him and shake his hand. I don't reach into the void, but actually take his hand. That's pretty awesome. Then I go to a railing and touch it...and yes, it feels like the real thing. Of course, I can also talk to Roger as normal.<\/p>\n
After a brief exploration of the VR room and some more information, we set off on our adventure. A few puzzles are waiting to be solved by us. We won't reveal what happens next at this point. It's best to visit the website below and book your VR adventure. It's a completely new VR experience that's definitely worth trying out. The game is always played in pairs.
