Switzerland Tourism has been providing an app for the Grand Tour of Switzerland since spring 2022. This app has now been enhanced with NFT technology. This allows the photo spots along the tour to be collected digitally. This makes Switzerland Tourism a \"first mover\" on the road to the metaverse - and paves the way for the entire tourism industry.<\/h3>\n

Until now, potential guests of the Grand Tour of Switzerland, the No. 1 road trip in the Alps, have had access to a virtual tour and a website online - both tools that rely heavily on inspiration and contribute little to planning and travelling.<\/p>\n

These existing tools have now been supplemented with an app. Tourists can use the app to plan their specific day. After selecting the desired travel behaviour \"eventful\" for leisurely travellers or \"road trip\" for classic touring and road fans, more or less Grand Tour highlights are included in the day's planning. In \"Roadtrip\" mode, the driving experience in an electric vehicle or car takes centre stage, while the \"eventful\" mode suggests more excursions. The number of days on the route and a starting point are also selected. The app then calculates a suggested destination. The app's travel programme naturally also includes accommodation suggestions (regions, destinations, accommodation). The new app also navigates guests to the attractions and accommodation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Integration of the first NFT technology.<\/h3>\n

In order to make the app's \"all-in-one\" approach even more holistic and also to meet the marketing trend of \"gamification\", it will be possible to collect both real and virtual objects digitally in future. In a first step, the photo spots - which are equipped with a QR code - can be collected along the Grand Tour of Switzerland and collated in the app. This is done digitally directly on site using \"Augmented Reality View\".<\/p>\n

This new, playful element is based on NFT technology (\"non-fungible token\"). This refers to \"unique, indivisible and verifiable\" virtual objects on a blockchain basis. This is Switzerland Tourism's first pioneering step into the metaverse. \"With this expansion of the app, we are not only offering our guests a new kind of experience, but also laying the foundation for further exciting applications in the fusion between the real and virtual worlds. In this way, we want to provide an additional incentive to discover lesser-known places along the Grand Tour,\" says Stefan K\u00fcnzle, Head of Digital Management and member of the ST Executive Board.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
