On 26 June 2021, the Fusion Arena hosted the e-sports tournament \"Showdown Masters\" for the second time. To date, this is the world's only tournament in full-body virtual reality (VR) in which all participants compete against each other live on site in an arena. The VR game \"Showdown\", developed by the Swiss company TrueVRSystems, was played in which two teams of two people each took part in the virtual battle.<\/h3>\n

With a total of 64 participants and a prize pool worth CHF 1200, this year's Showdown tournament was another success. In addition to the number that Claudio, Head of E-Sports Pandally AG, told us in the Interview<\/a> had mentioned, there are a few more.<\/p>\n

The game was played in a knockout system, as was the case at the premiere in 2019. However, the teams now had to prove their skills in two qualifying rounds in Bern, Kreuzlingen and Zurich. On the big final day, 26 June 2021, the top 16 teams finally met for the last time in the Fusion Arena in Kreuzlingen. Participants from all over Switzerland and Germany made for a sweat-inducing tournament, which was livestreamed on several platforms (Twitch, YouTube and Facebook).<\/p>\n

The moderator was \"Chrigi\" from Chur from eSports.ch, who is well known in e-sports Switzerland. For the second time in a row, the winners of 2019 once again claimed victory. \"Showdown Masters was a spectacle! The teams outdid themselves and raised the level many times over compared to the first tournament,\" confirms Claudio Itri, Head of E-Sports at Fusion Arena. Further tournaments are already being planned, with Fusion Arena pursuing the goal of a transnational league, among other things. \"The idea is to integrate further VR centres from our system manufacturer TrueVRSystems into the project so that the best teams can duel it out in the future,\" explains Ronny Tobler, CEO of Fusion Arena.<\/p>\n

Experience full-body VR privately<\/strong><\/p>\n

The VR game Showdown can also be played privately in the Fusion Arena in Bern, Kreuzlingen or Zurich, as well as in the TrueVR Centre in Dietlikon, independently of the Showdown tournament. Thanks to various adventure games, a VR escape room and two zombie shooters, there are plenty of opportunities to immerse yourself in the world of full-body VR.
